Z NYC Hotel

I stayed at this hotel for the view which did not disappoint. The view was amazing. Another positive was that the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately that is where the positive things end. My first shock was when I got off the elevator and started to my room. The hallways are not heated and enclosed with some weird plastic with holes in it. The room itself was average size for New York. Plenty of room for 2 people. The bathroom was extremely small. The room had a safe and mini fridge however the mini fridge did not cool very well. My drinks would have stayed cooler if I had placed them in the hallway. No coffee maker in the room. Asked for washcloths the second day there but never received them. If you plan on using the subway be warned. It is a fairly long walk. Overall I'm glad I stayed here for the experience of the view but next time in New York I will stay elsewhere. There are much better options in Long Island City.

Great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Good location for New York city too! And amazing views over Manhattan!

The location is about ten blocks from the train which isn't bad but not perfectly convenient either. They make up for that by having a complimentary shuttle that goes to 59th and Lex hourly. My issues start with the rooms. We stayed in November 2015 which was unseasonably warm. In the evening our room was 81 degrees. We attempted to turn on the air conditioning... No air conditioning. The building has a boiler and when it is on over rides the a/c. You can't even use the fan component without spewing very hot air into the room.

The room looks aesthetically pleasing if you don't pay attention to details. Little things like a broken toilet paper holder, extremely uneven tile in the shower, doors hanging down on the cabinet because the hinges were loose... It starts to add up to a less than stellar experience. The continental breakfast is really a very small selection of bagels and two types of bread. There may have been a toaster but I didn't see it and opted for the breakfast buffet instead. Which was also disappointing. Cold eggs, cold pancakes, decent bacon, a little fruit and the same sad continental breakfast options.

The best thing I can say is that the staff was really very nice and LIC is a quant neighborhood. Although there hotel is a good 4-5 blocks from where the happening spots are and sits in a commercial/industrial area that's a bit run down.

The only reason you want to stay here is the view of manhattan, and the price of 260 a night beats the prices in manhattan. We spent 5 nights at this hotel, 9/30 through 10/4 and luckily hurricane Joaquin was in the area because the AC was broken, the restaruant food is over priced, you can find good pizza and pasta a few blocks away at the lexington and 21st subway station,the free shuttle always gets over booked so even if you sign up in advance for the 9am shuttle they will need to make 2 trips which means with traffic you wont be in the city until an hour later. Hard to find taxi in long island because they are all in manhattan so after free shuttle was overbooked on us once we used uber or walked to lexington and 21st subway. The roof top is open late night, even in bad weather i was able to go up there and smoke and enjoy the view. 3stars, the view is 5stars and available 24hrs a day, price, but i dont think i would come back so i gave it 3 stars overall.

Staff nice, view was great, rooms were small and restaurant service was good but Italian restaurant menu was overpriced. Shuttle bus was absolutely brilliant. And price was good. Would stay again.
