Sushi Pronto

Always pleasant atmosphere and some of the best sushi we've had in Staten Island. Fast delivery too!

Sushi pronto brings the nyc atmosphere to the island. I went here 5 times in one week and I always get my lunch from them whenever I work. The prices are excellent and you get more than your moneys worth. My favorite sushi place on the island hands down.

I passed by "Sushi Pronto" several times and decided to go in because the outside decor while simple was pretty inviting. When I entered I was pleasantly surprised because I expected a very small place. When I entered it was large and warm, despite the pop station that was playing in the background that was killing the ambiance of the place a bit. So far so good...
Then I ordered. Even though I ordered two simple rolls, one sushi, one sashimi and miso soup, something that can be done in a matter of few minutes. The hostess told me it would take about 20 min to do it. It was about 7:44 pm and the place seemed pretty busy so I agreed to wait. I try new sushi places all the time and although nobody likes waiting, I was excited.
23 minutes later, I was getting a bit frustrated, but still kept waiting. The hostess brought me some water which was nice. On the 28th minutes I approached the hostess and inquired about my order. Instead of being polite about being late on the order, the hostess sneered at me and told me that she told me at the beginning it would take 20 min. When I said that it has been almost 30 minutes. She took my recite, her watch and started telling me that it has been only 26 min. Then she told me whether or not I wanted to cancel the order.
I was a bit shocked by her response. I expected a polite response, something along the lines "its going to take a few more minutes". Instead she was trying to prove that she was right instead of pleasing a customer. I sat for a few minutes, rethought my decision, and asked for my money back. While I wanted sushi, I did not want to pay any of my money to a restaurant that was so impolite to their customers.
So I never tried the sushi, because honestly a restaurant where it takes over 30 min to make two rolls is not worth the wait, even if the discount is high. In fact, after I left, I drove to my favorite sushi place on Staten Island which was Mitoushi Sushi and ordered the same thing. It was a little longer for me to get to, but my order was made in 5 minutes and the prices are just as discounted as in Sushi Pronto. So my review is, if you want to eat sushi fast and enjoy the atmosphere, do not go to Sushi Pronto, which really should be renamed Sushi Tarde... Its a very poor choice.
Also, I think if they want to make their business successful, they should think of hiring waitresses and one or two more chefs.
