I think I found a new go-to spot. Not only is it a 10 min drive from home, but the food is good and crave-able.
Came to Mesa Azteca on a Friday because they have live mariachi! Being Latina, i had a ton of songs I wanted them to play and they did.
I had the Enchiladas Suiza which comes with re-fried beans and yellow rice... How was my dish? It was just perfect. You get three enchiladas in your order, covered yummy salsa verde. The food is authentic Mexican food with tons of flavor.
White sangria is always my go to and it was delicious.. not as strong as i'd like it to be.

Fantastic and very authentic Mexican restaurant. I have been lucky enough to try almost everything on the menu and the chefs in the back do it right! Excellent service, staff, delicious drinks and incredible food makes this a Bushwick staple of mine. The steak with mushrooms is out of this world (and I don't even like mushrooms!) as well as the El Pastor taco. Happy hour = $4 frozen margaritas. Great mezcal selection. Try the cucumber jalapeno margarita if you like spicy drinks.
Forgot to mention there is a live mariachi band every Friday!

I love this Mexican restaurant. Before it was Mesa Azteca it sucked and once it was taken over by the now owner, this place is fantastic. Seriously as a fellow Mexican I know good Mexican and this blows away everything else in the neighborhood. I absolutely love the tacos here they're delicious and hit the spot. I've had just about everything and the food is always great. The atmosphere is cool as they have margarita specials and if it's not cold out you can enjoy their back patio garden area which is nice. Service is always quick and if you're lucky you'll walk in while they have mariachi's playing or a dj or a live band, etc. You get the point they like to entertain and keep it lively.

The food is fantastic for both brunch and dinner. They also have a really nice back yard with a sexy fountain. On occasion they have a really good Mariachi Band.
Only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is they mislead you on the bucket of 5 beers for $10. They advertise it as 12oz beers but they are only pony beers. They should really be full size beers...with limes.
I would be willing to award a 5th star if they had something like a kid walk around wearing a giant sombrero full of chips and salsa. That would send this place over the edge.
Regardless, this is a great place to eat in Bushwick. Bring your date, bring your parents or go alone even. You wont be disappointed.
