Absolutely loved this place on a brief stop in New York several years ago. Very original and incredible flavor. Definitely and un-topped Italian experience to this day.

Il Mattone has closed. Word is another Italian restaurant is going to open in the space. It's a great little space. Here's hoping for a good tenant.

My wife and I visited Manhattan July 2010 and had the pleasure of dining at II Matone based on a recommendation. We are glad we did because that had to be the best cooking I have ever experienced. Relaxed atmosphere but good quality. We where well dressed and did not feel out of place. I would highly recommend!
