H&R Block

I took a day off work today to get my taxes done, arrived at my appointed time only to find out they are not qualified to do my taxes. Seriously the commercial is false..... They are just people using software like turbo tax, charging a lot of money with no special skills. I ended up googling CPA in Cranford and found Demian & Company. Peter and his team are exceptional. They took me right away and did my taxes in under 30 minutes. Their fee was very reasonable, in fact almost half of H&R Block.

Service here is HORRIBLE. The people are so incompetent. Let's start from the beginning...

First went in person to do my taxes last year. This guy - despite supposedly having 20+ years' experience - really seemed to have no idea what he was talking about. Not friendly at all.

This year, I decided to give the home software a go. I realized that I could not find my last years' tax return and attempted to get a copy from the office. They sent me in circles. Went there on a Sunday when they are supposedly open until 6pm only this one ancient lady was there and she did not know how to pull up tax returns. Someone with supposedly 15+ years' experience as well. RIDICULOUS! So I showed my ID to verify, gave my social security and asked if they could mail it because I do not drive and live a few towns over.

Waited a week...nothing.

I call today, ask for a manager who had a very bad attitude making it seem like it's MY FAULT. Telling me to just go online and get my return myself which I don't know why the original receptionist I spoke to on the phone just wouldn't tell me that if she knew she was going to duck out and leave an old lady alone in the office (which by the way, I was in around 3 and she locked the doors after I left even though it is supposed to be open until 6).

This is a horrible company and every experience has not been friendly. If you are someone young like me who has a hard time understanding all this tax stuff, don't expect help. Next year I will be using turbotax or some other company but never again this place!
