Great atmosphere and helpful staff. Our waitress was hilarious and answered all our questions. Had chicken with mushroom and artichoke. It was very good. My wife had French onion soup which was even better. Great place to stop by and grab a bit. All those bad reviews, actually read them. Those people usually liked it, then gave it 3 stars?
Well worth the visit.

Probably the friendliest place we came to on our short trip to NYC. you MUST try the eggs benedict. They make their own hollendaise sauce and it is awesome - creamy with a touch of zing in it. Excellent service, great food, reasonable price. Sit outside and watch the village happen arou d you. We'll definately be back

A few months back, I went on vacation with a group of friends to New York City for an event we were all excited for. On the first day before the event, we did some adventuring on our way around the city, we stumbled upon Greenwich Village Bistro. We took a look at the menu posted outside and glanced at the inside of the establishment and thought, 'This looks like a nice little bistro, let's go for it." So in we go in which an elderly woman greets us and asks if we wanted to sit down and order. We hesitate for a bit since the prices are quite high, but we figure why not. We finally sit down and two of us order some food and the rest of my friends sit down with us. After we're done ordering, the elderly maned woman berated my friends for not ordering anything and they were taking up "precious space". Normally, I would be completely understanding to the elderly woman's concerns. But there was literally no one else in the bistro and it was a fair sized establishment. So, after our friends were either A.) FORCED to buy something otherwise they couldn't sit in the restaurant or B.) Left because they didn't want to deal with this old crone. We ate our food as quickly as possible. The food was decent but not for the price at all. During our feast, there was a couple outside the restaurant eating their food and the young woman had to use the restroom. She walked into the bistro and start heading back toward the bathroom and like a hawk after a four month fast, this crone hopped on her broomstick and shouted at the lady that she was not allowed to use the restroom even though she was dining there. I'm really not sure if I asked for a soap opera while I was eating... The icing on the cake was when we were going to pay. We found out that there was a $15 minimum for card. Thus, making my visit at the Greenwich Village Bistro the worst part of my vacation and I will definitely recommend people away from it when they go and visit New York City.

TERRIBLE, MISERLY service with a mediocre and slightly over-priced menu. Would not recommend to anyone. Atmosphere feels nothing like their website. Don't eat outside, otherwise the owner might forget that you ordered food and refuse to let you use her preciously guarded bathroom.

The pork chop was delicious. And open mic night drew a dozen performers who's love for music and theater made their performances entertaining. All this while sitting outside and enjoying the neighborhood.
