I had a noon reservation but when I arrived I was informed they have no cars available, zero. I was asked to have a seat and when any car arrived in they would let me know. I understand they can't control people returning their cars. After waiting for 20 minutes the next customer went to the desk, they were given the option of a white or black rental. This made me extremely upset because I'm in town for my grandfather's funeral. I promptly went up to the register and asked for a refund and took my business to national.

Flew into JFK for a medical visit in Connecticut, and was there for a week. I booked a midsize car for I believe around $170. Upon arrival, I was shown my car. It was a Hyundai Accent. Anyone with even a baseline understanding of cars knows that an Accent is NOT a midsize car. I complained, assured it WAS a midsize, despite there being an economy tag on the keychain. As I brought it to their attention, I noticed that the accociate's cheery tone vanished almost instantly. I complained more, and was upgraded to a Standard car, a brand new Hyundai Sonata (base model).
This company wouldn't be my first choice in the future, but they do tend to be extremely inexpensive, even for NYC. I actually just booked another car with them for a short trip this week (because everyone else's prices were through the roof). I just hope I'm not pawned off another Accent instead of the Impala I booked.

I had to rent a car so I was told to check at the airport because rates are cheaper. Advantage was unfamiliar but the rates were good for me. We booked the rental 2 days in advance and when we got there they said they didn't have any cars. We was there for a 10am pick up and didn't get a car until about 10:45am. I felt we shouldn't have to return the car by 10am on our return date since they weren't ready on their to begin with. Forget if we was straight off a flight. Who wants to wait around for a rental you booked in advance. Now a storm is coming through NY the day I'm supposed to return the car and I want to return a day early. I can't get a direct number for the JFK location to speak to someone about an early return. I can't get an answer from the automated number on the rental receipt either. This has been a headache and I will NEVER rent from them again.

Wish I was able to give this place no stars. Horrible costumer service.. I was set into a rate and they changed my rate for a holiday rate. Then told me it will be 210 a day. The car windows were so dirty I had to clean them before I got the car home.. the radio was broke and didn't work.. the manager was very rude and nasty. Not just to me also to other in line... I been trying to contact there customer service for over 2 weeks leaving messages and calling still no answer. I recommend spending a little more money and go somewhere else that's doesn't take advantage of their customers..

Had a reliable rental car experience, so I thought I'd offer that as a contrast to the people who had unpleasant experiences. Got there early for my one-week rental of an economy car, and what they had available was a Camry, so we got that. Great car, about normal wait times to get out, nice quick return.
Bathroom was in a pretty dismal state, though. Seems to me that when one is getting off of a long plane journey and has driving ahead, a nice spot to refresh yourself is a pretty important thing.
