Empty place, bad service and way too expensive. Making you pay 5 dollars for keeping your bag at the entrance or you won't be allowed to enter. Save yourself the tme and go to another place.

Really nice and lovely place. Quite clean, good music, you have to wait a lot for your drinks but I can recommend.

I guess "Plunge" has a new name. Either way, Gansevoort's Roof Top Lounge Bar is always a nice escape. Been coming here for years. Not to often though, since the lines can sometimes be unacceptable.

One thing that I can let perspective visitors know is that places like this can get a lot of haters by the high demand and the long lines. So don't let the 1 star reviews fool you. This place on Friday or Saturday Night tends to have about 100 people on line. There's no way that they can accommodate everyone and make them happy.
Unless your Chris Kattan or Will Ferrel, don't expect to skip the line.

Perhaps get a room instead of a "$1500 Bottle service" and throw your own party, other than skipping the lines with your guests.

A few Tips:
If you want to avoid the lines, come early.

Wear dress shoes, since their Dress Shoe policy can really mess up your evening plans. No Shorts even if they're Thom Browne, Tom Ford, G.Armani...

Party wise: This place throws some serious parties on odd days.
I'm not gay, but if you ever want to see a serious party with really good music and people who actually have a pulse, it's worth checking out on such nights. Guests are respectful.

If you really want to have a laugh, check out the little hidden Club in the back of the Hotel. Be kind, they're just trying to make a few bucks from willing suckers. - Pretty much it's by invitation only or if you're a high roller, or bate (paid model). - Nice Club, if you like the typical mix of meatpacking club music. Not for me though. -

Over all, this Roof Top Bar is nice year round. Bar serves up great drinks. Good selection of Spirits, Wine, and Beer. They have a pool, which i think is only open for pool/brunch parties or guests during the day.

The crowds vary. You always meet some interesting people from wide range of professions. If the line is fair, I'd check it out.

The staff is very rude, lots of limitations in terms of table size and where and when one is able to go outside on the rooftop. Got a table and spent around. $1500 on bottle service however after stepping outside due to an emergency, we were unable to re-enter because of the bouncers personal preference. Bad experience overall, not suggested. Go elsewhere, plants of other rooftop bars.

My colleague and I were in NYC on business for 2 days. We were told that we get to see the night time views of the city from Standard and Plunge. After exploring Standard the first night we took a taxi all the way to Plunge on a Tuesday evening. There were no people around. The place looked pretty empty. The African American guy at the door said he would'nt let us in because we had to bring girls!!! What nonsense!! I showed him the Plunge website asking him to show where it says so. At that point he says that its his discretion to not let us in. We told him that we got a cab from a long way to get to plunge. He said he wouldn't let us in. We then asked another guy who was also at the door to give us directions to Standard hotel. The guy told us that it was a block away at which point the AA doorman told us that its actually 3 blocks away and gave us wrong directions. We got a cab believing him and sure enough Standard was a block away and so close that we could walk in 2-3 mins. Had i had a decent signal on my phone i wud have looked it up myself. In anycase such unprofessional behavior by Plunge employees is unacceptable!!!
