Very bad school

I'm there right now. Lol

I don't know who "Imran" thinks he/she is, but talking about the school that way just because it was like that 10 or so years ago doesn't seem fair at all. I'm sorry, but I highly disagree. WMS is one of the best education centers in the area. We have many after-school activities, a new track and football field (turf), and, if you have been there recently, a new baseball field. So, yes, the school got a facelift- and it is much better than people that just glance around think it is. Also, "Imran" stated that fights broke out without faculty coming to help. This is no longer true. Lynbrook- haha that's funny. You should see Lynbrooks programs and facilities compared to our's now...

I'm no fan of the Hewlett-Woodmere school district, and Woodmere Middle is clearly the worst of the lot. When I attended (before their building's renovation more than 10 years ago), the facilities were in clear dissarray. It was obvious that almost all of the funds were being used to maintain the elementary and high schools. While the school's facelift has improved its outer facing, the surrounding playgrounds and what passes for a baseball field there are still dilapidated. There were no afterschool programs available then due to funding issues. The teachers here were the worst I ever had from elementary through high school. I suspect that their dealings with a very difficult administration provide a great deal of their job dissatisfaction. There was a great deal of bullying and fights breaking out in the hallways in full view of faculty who did little to nothing about it. For a school located in one of the most exclusive and well-to-do suburban neighborhoods on all of Long Island, this school was the poster child for what's wrong with public education. If you have any interest in your child's education, enroll your child in nearby Lynbrook or the private Woodmere Academy. WMS is a sheer embarrassment to our community.
