Williams-Sonoma

I have always liked shopping at Williams Sonoma , but a recent experience has caused a problem. Last Christmas I purchased a All-Clad fry pan for my daughter to add to a set she received as a wedding gift. I encountered two problems. First, the finish on the William Sonoma pan was not the same as the other pans in her set(certainly not Williams Sonoma's fault), and secondly she was moving from Tennessee, and put the pan in storage.

Now that she is settled back on the east coast, she brought me the pan to exchange. However, I no longer have a receipt, and without it the store would not take it back. Now I live about 1 mile from the store and over several years, I have purchased many gifts, and many items for my personal use, including a full set of All-Clad pans. I am sure the store personal recognized me by sight, but would not make an exception. The person in charge looked at the pan and noted that it had obviously not been used, but refused my request for a store credit, explaining the store policy. I am not one who would argue in the store, however I was extremely disappointed that I was not given some consideration as a regular customer.

I have shopped in the store since it opened; I have taken several of your cooking courses, and I have ordered from your At Home catalog, but you have lost me as a customer from this point on. I realize policies are important however service to me is more important.
