Yakitori is one of my favorite types of cuisines and was very happy to come across a Michelin Star yakatori reastuarant in Manhatten. They have recently moved from their old location on upper east side to hells kitchen area and the new space is well designed and much bigger from the old space.
Favorite is the chicken meatball

We ordered delivery home and it was fantastic. (We have traveled in Japan and wanted some real yakatori). Did the chicken bento and the veggie. Looking forward to eating at the actual restaurant.

As a Japanese and as a person who enjoy yakitori very often and at various places the quality of food at this place was disappointing. To begin with it was way too salty. When I ordered Takenoko, bamboo root, they already added much salt on it when they grilled it but they also placed salt on the dish. There was no way I could enjoy the subtle flavor of the original material by that. They also over grilled the meat. Some yakitori had blackened source covering the meat and I even felt it would not be good for health. And most importantly meat itself did not have much flavor. I do not know where they are getting the chicken but I do believe this is nothing more than what we can get at any shop like Whole-foods. However there are several good things. One was the people working there. They were nice and friendly. The other was the decoration in the restaurant. It was very beautifully made and has genuine high quality. Very well done for that part.
