Woman told me on the phone there would be no charge to come over and give estimate. Guy comes out and refused to give price on the job before starting. Mind you this was very standard work that needed to be done. He insisted he, "didn't know" how long it would take. Yeah, after 20+ years or whatever of plumbing everyday he couldn't or wouldn't even give me a ballpark number. He tried every BS stall tactic in the book to avoid a price. Finally I coerced one out of him and it of course was outrageous. It'd be bad enough if this "I don't know how long it will take" nonsense was simply a ruse to get the customer to bear 100% of the time risk....but more accurately it's ruse for them to jam the customer with as high a price as possible. I told the plumber to take a hike and ultimately found someone to do the job for 1/3 of the quoted price!
Then today, despite being assured initially over the phone there would be no charge for them coming out....I find a bill in my mailbox from them, a service fee for $92.33. So now they expect me to pay them for their failed attempt to rob me???
I was positively furious when that plumber came out and tried to screw me in my own house, and I was going to write this review back then but I simmered down. Then the bill got me riled up again. Without a doubt, if I was a housewife or old lady here in Manhasset the guy would have tried to charge even more. That's what these local plumbers do - they prey upon us under the assumption that everyone here is either ultra-rich or ultra-stupid.
It goes without saying that this review will be my ONLY response to the bill they sent.
