The New York Dog Shop

The store has a great selection that made me want to order. However they seem to have a I don't care type of attitude that really puts me off. Order some toys and never heard back. I emailed and asked why I haven't revived my order after 2 weeks. They apologized and said they were on back order. When I inquired about when they will be in, it was very vague...soon. so 4 days later I inquired again and they said by xmas I should have my order (30 days later!) I asked if they can ship priority since it's been so long OR could they offer me a discount on a future order. They said gir an additional $22 dollars they can ship that way. No acknowledgement about discount. I just said cancel order in which they said they would. They just don't get it. If you think ordering something and getting if 30 days later is acceptable. .then this place is for you.

The New York Dog Shop is simply the best! I have been shopping here for a few years now, and I love it. They have the best selection, and the best staff. The owner, Lisa, is amazing!

About 5 months ago I stumbled upon this shop while exploring manhattan and decided to go in to see what they offered even though I didn't have a dog at that time. The stfaff was friendly and I loved the products. In one week I will be picking up my 10 week old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and decided I would get my products from this store (leash, harness, collar, sweater, bowls, etc). When I went in today and asked the sales girl to help me pick out some products, she responded with "I can't help you unless I know exact measurement and breeders are breeding those dogs smaller and smaller which is NOT healthy." I responded that I was getting my dog from a reputable breeder but wanted to just approximate sizes for a small 10 week cavalier. She continued to not be interested in helping me and after being so presumptuous about my breeder choice I left the store and will not be back. BIG MISTAKE. I was about to spend a lot of money.

I purchased two gift certificates from a CHARITY auction for this store. When I attempted to use them the manager informed me they were one per person (let's ignore that I paid for them and the money was for a good cause). The manager would not allow me to gift one to another person, rather she voided and ripped one up, informing me I could seek out the charity for a refund. She took her tax deductible benefit from the donation then she refused to honor the certificate. Not only is this rude, it is illegal.

The products are wildly overpriced (Paul Mitchell shampoo that is $8.50 on amazon is $14.95 in the store), and the manager is downright scummy. I was purchasing more than the value of the certificates, and frequently make purchases there, despite the huge markups. Never again.

I have never seen an organization or business refuse to honor charity donations. If anything, when I have aides with charity events, other organizations have KINDLY extended expiration dates - for the sake of charity.

My dog is my baby!! I like to feed her quality food without fillers and chemicals. New York Dog Shop is great! Carries my favorite brand of puppy chow and has really cute sweaters and doggy gifts. I am a regular here and would recommend it to anyone.
