The Jumping Bulldog

My dog didn't seem to like this place and the people working there didn't seem to care for my dog. I only wanted a basic wash and I don't think they liked that I didn't want to bundle and pay $150+ for a grooming. Even after deciding on a basic wash I ended up paying over $100 (even with a Yelp discount), which I thought was pretty outrageous. The wash wasn't that great and the dog didn't even smell like shampoo. I won't bother going back again.

This is where my dog gets groomed and where I buy most of his food and treats. Both of the groomers who have worked on him have done an excellent job and he LOVES them both -- that is the best sign that they are good. If my dog had had a bad experience with them, he would avoid them at all costs, but he gets very excited to see them and always has hugs and kisses for them. So, that eases my mind. Everyone at the store is friendly and helpful and sometimes we stop in just to say hi! Love it!

Never again!!! her haircut was so choppy and she was very weird for a couple of days. I would not recommend this place! Bad!

Wow. This is truly the best pet store I have ever found. They are small & community based, they have a selected inventory of high quality items, and they are true TRUE animal lovers. I don't see why I would ever go anywhere else. We got some great items (chews, toys, food, supplements, etc - all at really reasonable prices) for our new rescue dog and the owner Tonia was straight with us about what we needed to purchase and what was extra/unnecessary - who does that!? We came in the store uncertain, and left confidant with huge happy smiles - not the least of which was our Bear who carried his new toy all the way home! Sorry Petland, our pets are now jumping bulldog exclusive!

What a lovely store! Small but packed with goodies and friendly people (and pets!), this store is fun and a perfect local stop. I always buy Wellness brand dog food for my pup, and was looking for a local shop that sells it. I normally buy a 6 lb bag at Petsmart (Broadway store) for $18.99, but this place sold it for $15.99, so whoever said there are savings in the big stores is very wrong! The girl working there was very sweet and genuine. She introduced me and my dog to her dog and the calico kitty that calls the store her home. She chatted with me happily about her experience with certain cat food, because I was looking for a new brand to feed my cat who has a sensitive tummy.

I also bought several chews for my dog, and they are a fraction of the price that Petsmart sells them for ($3.39 vs $6.50)! Also everything in their store is organic and doesn't have any byproducts of any kind. I loved this store, it felt like one of those boutique pet places in Uptown but without the crazy high prices! The best I've seen in Astoria yet. I highly recommend this cute pet stop!
