Extra super fun evening in NYC. Fun history of drinking, while drinking, entertained by clever and spirited troupe. Must see this!!!

I saw the show last night and it was awesome. Not only does the cast have amazing voices, you can tell they are enjoying the show as much as the crowd. It was so good I will more than likely watch it again. The cast was great to talk to after the show.

The history of alcohol was interesting and the mixed in entertainment bits with excellent singing were amusing if occasionally odd but the two didn't seem to work so well together. There were two very good (small) drinks served plus a third 6 oz drink that was 1/2 beer and 1/2 soda which doesn't really qualify as a drink in my book. The show was OK, maybe even good but not good enough to recommend.

Worth the trip to see if you want something different in a show. Along with the entertainment you get 3 drinks. Not sure if they change but on the night I went it was a shandy, old fashioned and a gin & tonic.

Hamilton isn't unlikely. The fact that Ron Chernow and Lin-Manuel Miranda exist on Earth at the same time made a brilliant hip hop musical about America's infancy inevitable. Much more unlikely is a barbershop musical about humanity's relationship with alcohol, performed in a tightly-packed bar that was once Tammany Hall's underground speakeasy.
This funny and informative monologue is punctuated by clever a cappella adaptations of folk songs, and in a couple of cases, dance songs from the Seventies and Eighties, and three cocktails relevant to the narrative.
Not only is it clear that the audience is having fun, there is an infection joy among the performers more than 100 performances into this show's run. Writer/host Anthony Caporale ties the piece together with a passionate and convincing thesis about Americans' view on drinking post-Prohibition that will change the way I think about how and what I order next time I'm at a bar.
