Frankly, it seems unbelievable to me, but New York has like FIVE design stores. Future Perfect is at the front of the pack. The store is small, but the product selection is always interesting, and they have a great sense of humor. They have a few select handmade, short run pieces of furniture, and then a lot of inexpensive artsy handmade gifts and tchochkes. I definitely recommend Future Perfect for any visiting design fans.
