I returned to the restaurant and area after 30+ years and my relatives and I went for an early dinner. Very disappointed. Not the awesome restaurant I used to frequent years ago, looks the same but the service was poor, the management was unhelpful to be kind and the porter house steak for two was over cooked!! so for 39 bucks it was sent back and we waited for 30 min to have a new one delivered and it was smaller than the over done one... sad that the place has gone down hill. wont be back.

I grew up hearing about Essex House for many years. It is one of a kind. A family owned business with an authentic dining car that takes you back 100 years. Then there is the special and unique charm of the restaurant and bar. The managers are always have a smile on their faces, are always helpful and kind and the wait staff is always willing to go the extra mile. If you enjoy great food, great live music and great character and authentic people who care for their customers -- then this is the place for you.

Had the porterhouse for 2. One of the best steaks I've ever had. The raw bar selection was fresh and delicious. Can't wait to be back
Hands down! Best place to eat.

Very nice restaurant. Excellent atmosphere, very professional and courteous staff. Drinks are pricey,(but I'm from Wisconsin) The Tomahawk Ribeye (with Gorgonzola topping) was perfect. I was here on business, and I felt so comfortable, I didn't want to leave.

Was in town for business. Incredible steak and great service, pricy of course but with no appetizers or desserts the bill was modest. Loved the atmosphere and the live piano. Would go again and recommend to anyone.
