Love this place because of its authenticity. It is a small step into Portugal for me. They have the best custard cups (traditional desert). Great vegetarian soups: a new kind every day at $2.50 per bowl. I have no idea how they have been able to keep the price so low for years. Service can sometimes get slow when the place gets too crowded. But I still love it!

I usually come here either for a galão (similar to a latte) or good ol' Portuguese soup! They have a different soup each day! Teixeira's has always been great, but the fact that they now accept credit cards and have parking available (Kossuth St. location) makes the place even better. No parking on Ferry St, but that's expected. Life!

Today was Three King's Day, so my family picked up a Bolo Rei (Portuguese style King Cake). We usually eat a couple of these sweet bread cakes during Christmas and the weeks that follow. Ok, we eat more than a couple! The cake is topped with candied fruit and powdered sugar.

I've tried different king cake styles, and I really like Bolo Rei. Growing up, I thought this cake was on the dry side, but it's definitely not as dry as Panettone (Italian Christmas cake). It's also not as sweet as Mardi Gras King Cake. I might sound a bit biased, but it's just right! haha Anyways, Teixeira's only makes it during the holidays, so I had to get my fix today.

Outstanding Portuguese bakery. Looks extremely authentic, feels just like a Portuguese bakery in Portugal. Awesome selection of different types of bread. The custard cups (pastéis de nata) are very good - the custard is a bit different compared to what you get in Portugal but still very good. Very reasonable prices too. Will definitely go back.

Galão and butter roll is a perfect way to start off the day. Sandwich and soup for lunch is fulfilling. Finish off with a flaky custard cup

The rissois are the best over there and the egg custards are really good. The shrimp rissois are my favorite.
