I went in for a day pass. They made me fill out a form to get my day pass. They then used that form to sign me up for a membership without my consent and then started charging me. I called them and the guy on the phone was polite and gave me the e-mail address of one of the accounting guys, telling me to send him an e-mail to explain the situation and get my money back. I sent him an e-mail, twice, but no reply. Filed a fraudulent charge through my bank, canceled my card, and then filed a complaint to the Better Business Bureau (who are incompetent themselves). Will not be doing business with them again.

These guys cheated me. Here is the letter i have sent them. No money refunded and its been over 21 days

To whom it may concern
Dear Synergy representative,
On 5/15, I came to Synergy Fitness(14th street Location) to check out the gym. While enrolling at the gym I was told that a 3.14 charge will be made for this month and upon going to workout I realized that the crowd was very loud and the place was very small and dirty for my liking thus I decided to terminate my membership within 5 minutes of enrolling. The designated rep at that time suggested I complete my workout and then cancel the membership. Upon finishing membership, the representative was gone. The alternative representative suggested I come in the same time next day to meet the original synergy representative. I came in the following day and take all the paperwork to the rep and thought my membership was cancelled. I saw two char
I tried calling the 14th street location and spoke with RJ and a bunch of other folks who gave me conflicting arguments.
1. Your money is refunded (Which it didn’t happen)
2. Your money cant be refunded cause you never cancelled(That is incorrect cause I physically cancelled it the second day itself and the person who was there took the envelope and said it will be worked on later in the evening and I will see my refunds in a couple of days(since we used a debit card)
3. I was asked to come in physically again? Why would I do that if I have already done it
To resolve the problem, I would appreciate you take care of two things
1. Please refund my $31.35 & $3.14. (The 31.35 was never mentioned)
2. Give me a valid reason for why my money was held
3. Provide me free access for the month of June(Not a new membership request, not renewing or want to do anything with the gym. This is a request cause my money was held)
I look forward to your reply and a resolution to my problem. I will wait till 6/6/2016 before seeking third-party assistance. Please contact me at the above address or by phone number i.e.

Great gym the staff is friendly and the gym is clean. i had a trainner for about 2 months got great results . unfortunately i had to move out of the city so i followed their cancellation procedure and my membership was cancelled. Cool place cool staff and for the price $ 40 per month you cant go wrong !

Affordable gym. Its on the bus line so its convenient to get to in bad weather. It has everything I need in a gym. Its always clean not like some other gyms. The front desk guys are cool. Josh and RJ are always helpful.
