Long story short, the attendant here skimmed my debit card and tried to spend $2,000 with it.
The first time I came here, I tried to pay cash, but the attendant started pestering me and asking why I won't use my credit card, if I'm sure I want to pay cash, etc. At first I thought nothing of it, except that maybe credit is easier for him to process.
Then one day I decided to use my debit card here. The attendant doesn't swipe your card at the pump; he brings it into his little booth, and comes back with a receipt for you to sign.
Three days later, I get a call from my bank about suspicious activity. Sure enough, someone has been going around NJ making big purchases at Best Buy, Walmart, etc. totaling over $2,000. The only change to my routine in the previous weeks was that I started using this gas station instead of the Hess two blocks east. It had to be this gas station, and I made sure the bank investigators knew about it.
I can only hope that the guy who skimmed my card doesn't work there anymore. Either way, PAY CASH ONLY AT THIS GAS STATION!
