SUGAR. I do believe it to be the strongest exhibition space in Brooklyn. In muscle, mind and heart. The curatorial vision, concepts and public challenges bring to mind Marcia Tucker and Rudi Fuchs. It's clear that Sugar performs outside of the box and transcends simply being a club member of a "scene"- championing artist whose works don't merely mirror artistic composure but f*cks with it. Call ahead- it's the respectful thing to do because it's generously offered from a home. I missed out once by not calling first but was able to get in a bit later and well worth the return visit.

another DIY art space in Bushwick. Loft space converted into art gallery for exhibitions and live installations. Call ahead of time for access (a few hours should do). SUGAR strays away from solo shows, choosing instead to create a work of art itself through the juxtaposition of the artists work among one another. I took the space as a derivative work of art emanating out of each artists individual works. This is the type of space that makes Bushwick unique.
