My name is Jason and I am the owners son and I am responding to these 3 reviews. We have been in buisness since 1947 and have nearly 100,000 customers in Staten island alone. We have an 8 truck operation and each truck does 5 to 6 jobs a day. Thats an average of 40 S.I homes per day. I launched the Air Duct division in Nov 2007 and have been trying to build it since.
Review # 1 upon arriving there were 3 people in the house the homeowner(mom) the young daughter and the newborn baby.
We did a walkthrough of the house counted all the vents and went downstairs to inspect the furnace. Once downstairs I began explaining our procedure to the homeowner. Myself my assistant and the Mrs. were downstairs. The only person left upstairs where the purse was originally was the YOUNG daughter. We hooked up and began cleaning I was returning an email to my corporate office through my cellphone when I felt someone watching me. I look up and from the Livingroom and there she was. I asked her if there was something wrong she then stated her purse was missing. I instructed my assistant to stop the cleaning and lets find it. (mind you this is the beginning of a 3 hour job) we searched for it and I found it on top of her dresser in the bedroom. She apologized and we kept working. Towards the end of the job i felt the alkwardness again. Now she claims out of the 600 dollars that was in her wallet 50 was missing. I told her we did not take her $50 and would not risk my job for somthing like that. At that time she did not know I was the owner she then called my office and spoke to my Father the owner and when we told her I was the owner of the Air Duct division she was shocked and said so basically he doesnt need my 50 dollars. Iam trying to build a company through great work and professionalism not ripping off my customers for pennies. Sometimes its the people closest to you ripping you off.
Review #2 We give estimates as close as possible over the phone so customers have a ballpark figure of what they are spending. If customer does not know sizes, Type of carpet or what they want to clean there will be confusion untill we arrive. We offer free estimates AND FREE DEMONSTRATIONS on all work we do thats how confident we are in our work with no obligation. Give us the correct information you will get the correct price.
Review#3 This I remember clearly. An appoitment was made to clean his carpet and yes he was quoted 210 dollars. We asked are any rooms oversized he said no. When we arrived HE was not home. A neighbor let the technicians in and told them to get started. They contacted the office to let us know most rooms were over 250sqft. I said DO NOT START any work until I reach the customer. I called his cell 17 times I have the phonebill to prove it. He finally picked up and said " Im in a meeting cancel the appoitment" I explained to him the techs were there and set up they did not start cleaning and for the past half hour we were trying to get in touch with him as a courtesy to explain his rooms were oversized. Had his neighbor not let the guys in we would have canceled his appointment and continued on to our next job. But because we sat for half hour set up the truck and just about began cleaning I explained he will have to cover our minimum charge. He was not home and had no consideration that YES hard working Staten Island guys were at his house waiting. We did not charge him the minimum and canceled the appointment.

What a disappointment! Stanley Steemer that claims to be friendly and honest company; turned out to be managed by local people in Staten Island, New York that treat customers and treat them in a rude and dishonest manner. I called them for a free estimate to clean the carpet in my apartment. They ask me how many rooms and hallways in the apartment and I answer 4 bedrooms, living & dinning room and a family room, total of 7 rooms. I was quote a price of $210.00 over the phone. At no time I was ask or told about oversize rooms or cancellation fees. I just wanted an estimate before the job was done.
What a surprise! Now the price went up over $300.00 dollars. Minutes after I told the technician that I was not going to pay that price; I received a call from his office, the person started with a high, threatening and demanding tone of voice “what was my problem”, “that I was going to be charge $75.00 cancellation fee because the technicians came to the apartment” “that I agree to the $210.00 dollar quote” “my technician are not there to waste their time”. He went on and on to the point that I had to raise my voice just to be able to respond to his demands. Once I refuse to pay that price the person from the office continue with his demands and insisting that “I will pay the cancellation fee”.
What a difference! I had three additional companies come to the apartment for FREE quotes. Believe or Not I got the carpet professionally clean for only $179.00 dollars.
