South African Consulate General

I went into the consulate with my fiance to apply for a visitors visa i had all the appropriate documents for this certain type of visa as directed from the website only to find out they needed several other documents. There was one lady who helped out at the very end only because i started giving attitude but other than that these people dint even know what visa i was applying for. by the way That Mr. Masseko guy hung up on my fiance and i 3 weeks prior. this place is a disgrace to my home country U.S.A and with word from my fiance a Disgrace to her own. she is a South African citizen. ohh and one guy who came in with an application had no flight itinerary, no FBI background check, dint even know when he was leaving or have proof of adders and they stamped all his paperwork. Advice to other your going to need at least two trips. I give no stars. good luck to you all

No one ever answers phone, looking for a tourist visa too, do i have to apply in person? it will be too costly to fly to NY, and how soon can i get the visa? why cant i mail in an application like all other consulates do?

This was by far the WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER gone through to receive a visa. Long story short, I was approved for my travel visa 3 weeks ahead and preceeded to book my trip only to be SIDE BLINDED that my visa was denied 3 days pror to leaving (when i went back to the office to pick up my passport). The denial reason was unbiased but if STAFF WERE properly trained I would have saved A LOT of time, money, and tears. The worst part is that no one cares. My vaca was totally ruined and if i didn't get a voucher instead of my money back from the airline, I wouldnt even bother going back.

I m planning to visit SA, and trying to contact the consulate office on email and phone, but get no response. I learned that I need to visit their office in-person to get tourist visa. I just wanted to know, how are their services at office, whether I can fly to NY in morning and return with my passport same day in evening..? Appreciate if you can guide me on how best I can get a visa. Thank you. Mahesh from Kentucky

I got my visa here several time. It didn't take longer then 10 days. Yes, they don't pick up the phone, but they reply on email. Try it. Fair service.
