I recently purchased a new pair of reading glasses from Selima Optique at Madison and 72nd in Manhattan. These were really cool specs, but the frames had been damaged at the lab when they set the lenses. Dealing directly with the manager, I asked that the frames be replaced and was told another pair was available. However, the frames were back-ordered (not disclosed to me), and after repeated calls to the store finally received a different pair of glasses, with lenses that didn't fit the frames. It took multiple trips to the store to finally dissolve the purchase. Glasses this expensive should be delivered without damage and with craftsmanship worthy of the price.
A word of caution: the store has a no refund policy, but no signage to that effect in the store, and no mention of it on the receipt. This was a terrible experience--try the other high end optical stores in the city. The quality and service you receive elsewhere justifies the price.
