We went to Schupp's landing about a week ago, rented an 18' 90 HP boat. During the boat ride we got stuck on the beach (which is in the middle of the bay area and it is a prominence of sand that rises as the water levels drop) because of a low tide. Numerous people park boats there and relax on the sand for several hours and wait till the water rises again so they can leave the sand area. I had the worst experience with trying to get the security deposit back due to the fact that the boat was not back to the dock at 4 pm. The crew was really nasty and disrespectful regarding the boat getting stuck on the sand. My understanding was, if i had caused the boat damage i would pay the security deposit, however,,!!!! the boat had not issues, no engine and or propeller problems had pretty much full tank of gas, and the only issue was that they were not able to get the boat of the sand and had to wait a few extra hours passed closing once the water rises to return it back to the dock.
Apparently i was not the only person who was given a hard time regarding this issue, other people had their boats stuck at low tides and some with engine problems due to various other mechanical issues (very old boats) and they got hassled for it also. Not a good way of running a business if they want to keep costumers coming back. I was only able to get half of my security deposit
