I recently purchased a voucher on Groupon for a dinner for two at Sam Mickail's CUT Steak House for me and my girlfriend, which was redeemable Friday - Saturday. We attempted to redeem it on Valentine's day, which was a Friday, but when we presented the voucher to our waiter we were told that it could not be redeemed because the menu was set for that night, which we were not made aware of until we were seated that night. We proceeded to order our food anyway but were surprised when the bill came to over $250+. The menu had no pricing information on it for the food, only the drinks, so we were not aware of how much our bill was going to be until the bill came. The appetizers were not cooked thoroughly and were not very appetizing and it took over 45 minutes to get our food in between meals. When the main course finally arrived, which was steak, asparagus and mashed potatoes, the steak was medium rare when we both had asked for well done. Overall, we were not pleased at all with the food or the service plus we were not allowed to use the Groupon voucher and had to pay the full price for the meal. If you want to get stuck up without a gun then this is the place for you! It must be run by the mafia because this dining experience leaves you feeling like you just got whacked.

Take a pass on this one. Food was over priced and poorly cooked. My lobster was overdone (like eating a $30 piece if rubber) and my wife's steak was cold. The 3 tables around us all sent their food back! Can't believe it took 2.5 hours for such a mediocre meal!

This is one of my worst experiences ever! I came to celebrate my little cousin's 30th birthday, venue of her choice of course. I was apart of a party of 14 people. Our waitress Michelle was extremely rude and disrespectful to several members of our party. She really needs to learn to speak to customers. Our food was extremely late, and did not have the taste that I would expect for a an expensive meal. The soft drinks lacked syrup. Although management agreed that my cousin could bring her own cake to serve to her guest since she only eats carrot cake and they do not offer it on the dessert menu, it was a different story when we arrived. They wanted us to pay $3 per person for a cake that she purchased. At one point in the evening it got really cold. I swear they cut the air on to rush us out as if their serving our food to us after closing was our fault. Once the bill arrived to our surprise it was only split into two checks, one for over $800 and the other for $50. Of course she refused to split the other check saying that they can't do it To top it off, all of a sudden the credit machine stopped working when we are ready to pay and then we all noticed police lights flashing outside. One of our party members looked out the window and saw 3 West Orange Police cars outside waiting. Really!!! They did not leave until we began to exit the parking lot. The only good thing I can think to say is that the escort from the parking lot to the upstairs area where the restaurant is located was very kind. Other than that, I would not suggest this place to anyone I know.

Start with the good: the service was excellent and the staff very friendly. The steaks were excellent, and the drinks were very generous. The bad: You can't find your way in without help. We tried 3 entrances to no avail and finally asked the valet. There are no signs which actually tell you how to get to the restaurant. Once you know where you are going, you walk through a cavernous, empty nightclub (we went on a Tuesday). The dining room was so cold that we all kept our coats on for the entire meal. It was the coldest night we've had for quite some time, but there ought to be a way to acceptably heat the dining room. And the canned music added nothing. Will not return.

Simply put, this steak house is not worth it. We went on a night that was not very busy at all and it took us an hour to receive our meal. The service in between that time was non existent. I could have got over all the service and decor issues as long as the food was good. However, the NY strip I ordered tasted like a steak I would expect from the diner, not a pricey steak house. It speaks more to the lack of quality than the cut.
CUT steakhouse markets itself like Ruth Chris or Roots, but it does not follow through on that expectation.
