The rooms are small and expensive. You do not have a kitchen in your house which is crazy, but the kitchen in the basement is not kept clean. The gym is missing equipment so its useless. The couches are comfortable though!

I moved into the Res Hall my first semester of college and stayed there for a few semesters. It was the first place I lived away from home, and it made adjusting much easier than just moving into an apartment right away. The office staff was always very friendly, and the bookkeeper was helpful with working out payments. Any minor issues were fixed by maintenance in a timely manner after handing in a work order form. The dorm is very close to Brooklyn College, which is super convenient, especially for morning classes (and for anyone who, like me, is super busy and involved in on-campus extracurriculars-- leaving campus late at night took no more than ten minutes to get back home, and for anyone who may feel unsafe walking at night, the Brooklyn College safety shuttle drives you back to the dorm for free)! As with any place you live, there are some minor issues, but most of them are not due to RHBC itself, and if you report the issue, the staff does their best to fix it. There are many amenities that also make the Res Hall worthwhile, such as the laundry room, fitness room, music room, quiet study room, and common lounge, all located in the basement. The dorms are one of the easiest and quickest ways to meet new people in college. I've had a few different roommates and some roommate issues, but the staff was helpful in resolving them, and I ended up with new roommates who I became great friends with. I met some of my first friends at the dorms, and have a group of best friends now who I met in the dorms and was able to hang out with every day. I've since moved into my own apartment with a few roommates, some of which I met through the dorms which helped me have the comfort of already being friends, rather than having to live on my own with people I barely knew. The res hall is also within walking distance to a large Target, and the 2, 5, B, and Q trains. I'd recommend it to students who are just starting their college career and who are living away from home for the first time- you'll be close to school, won't have to worry about traveling to a gym, laundromat, or library, and you'll make some great new friends!

I am reviewing this as a parent. Our son who was overseas during his spring semester was offered an intership in Brooklyn for the summer and had a short period of time to find a place to live. Being in an intensive study program and in a 6 hour different time zone, I was helping him look for places to live. Having been NYers ourselves at one time, we were not surprised by the smaller size(compared to suburban campus housing), challenges of living in a diverse brooklyn neighborhood, or the cost. What we did want was a good and responsive business office and a safe and clean building. Maybe management has changed since some of the other reviews or maybe the shorter summer period leads to an easier to maintain space compared to 9 months through the winter, but we found the unit, the shared spaces and the building very nice. The office and bookkeeper were friendly and helpful. Our son said that the security people were very nice. My four stars reflects the surrounding area being more difficult to find a lot of nightlife and shops that college kids might like. However the proximity to the subway allowed for nightlife elsewhere and an easy time getting home.

Stayed at the residence hall during summer 2015 was not dissatisfied with my decision to stay, the place was just as described, there were a few minor issues when I first moved in, due to me having a shared room however after submitting a work request the issues were quickly resolved. The environment was friendly and everyone was outgoing I would definitely recommend and stay again if I was schooling near by.

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Residence Hall. I'm an out of state student, and I'm glad I chose this place for my first year. It feels like home. My mattress is super comfy. Maintenance is great. The office workers work extremely hard to make the students comfortable. Highly recommended. The student may not want to leave.
