Worst Indian cuisine experience of my life. I wanted to take my daughter to 6th Street to taste authentic Indian cooking, so upon walking past Raj Mahal, a barker, who I later realized was the manager and/or owner, enticed us to dine, pointing out the Tandoori Chicken dinner on the sidewalk board @ $19.95 with all accouterments. My first clue that we should have gone to another restaurant was when I noticed the menu listed the very same meal @ $20.95 and when I questioned the waiter, he claimed that the board outside listed the "old prices." Then, two separate waiters brought out the wrong courses not once, but three times. Utter confusion. When the main course was finally brought, the rice was warm at best, not hot, and the Tandoori Chicken consisted of a boned chicken leg, covered in tasteless orange sauce. I could not believe they actually served me a boned chicken leg, perhaps a cost of 50 cents at the grocery store, and it was not a good piece of chicken either. I tried to eat it but could not. Tandoori Chicken should be boneless cubed or skewered pieces cooked long in Tandoori sauce. It should also come in a sauce that you can smother over rice. The vegetable plate was small and not flavorful. When the manager approached and asked how everything was, I explained my dissatisfaction. The man just walked away in mid-sentence, later passing by my table again and walking outside to smoke a cigarette. When he returned, I stopped him, and asked him what he intended to do, as I could not eat what was served to me and did not want to pay for it. He insisted I pay for the soup and bottle of sparkling water, which I agreed to. They charged me $5.95 plus tax for one bottle of sparkling water. I will never eat at this horrible restaurant again and urge all readers to do the same.

Raj Mahal was a great experience. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. The environment was relaxed with great ambiance and live music. I will we back soon.

I went here with a group of 11 people. They had some live sitar, which was pretty cool, and they gave us some free mango coconut dessert at the end. But of the three mains that I tried, saag paneer, baingan bhartha, and malai kofta, only the baingan bhartha was actually good.
