My son has been a part of the judo program at Queens MMA for three years. I have spent hundreds of hours watching the class. The sensei, Saro, is oustanding with the children. My son has made many friends through judo because the students are so loyal to the sensei that they do not leave. In a few months, my little guy will also begin judo at this club. Saro is the only sensei that I would trust my children with. If the "concerned observer" was so concerned, he, or she, should have stepped in or called the police. Shame on that person for anonymously trying to soil the reputation of a good, honest man.

Queens MMA is a great place for kids. I have 2 of my kids in the judo program, and everything that they have learnt have helped them, my son started since he was 4 years old, he is 8 now, my daughter when she was 11, they have gained confidence and discipline. Sensei Saro and sempai Josh are great instructors. sensei has being a very important part in their life and the kids respect him an love him.

The Queens MMA Judo program for kids is outstanding. My son and daughter both do judo. The sensei is a great role model, strict and nurturing, pushing the kids to perform at the highest level. My children both love judo, always ready to go and never, ever complain. Sensei also values education and expects that the children perform well in school in order to continue in judo. The reason I enrolled my son was because of his meager performance in school. Through judo, his confidence has grown, and he has achieved 3 gold honor rolls so far this academic year. Judo is a contact sport. As referenced by another "troll" reviewer, concerned observer, there will be contact. If the review is even real, maybe this parent was looking for a tai chi class. My children have never been subjected to inappropriate handling. Quite honestly, I find this sport to have some of the most humble, determined, driven individuals a part of it. I am so happy a friend of mine encouraged me to sign up. This sport has enhanced our children's lives incredibly.

Concerned Observer is FULL OF IT! My son has been going to the Judo program for three years now. The Sensei Saro and Senpai Josh are very honorable. They are true role models. I am proud to be affiliated with Queens MMA. These guys have a true love for the sport and ,more importantly, for our children. We (kids, parents, and staff) are family. They would NEVER let anyone abuse the children.

This is a great place to train. I mainly have experience with the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program, so that's what I'll be focusing on. Here's the breakdown:
1. The ownership: The owner, Kevin, is an involved and active owner. He himself trains under our instructor and is therefore very aware of what is going on in his own gym. Many gyms have "absentee owners" who don't notice the little things, and frankly don't care to. This is not the case with Queens MMA.
2. The instruction: The instructor, Charlie, is a BJJ black belt who knows how to break down techniques very well so that anyone can understand them. We all know learning techniques is important, however, the atmosphere of the class is also important. In Charlie's classes the atmosphere is friendly, open, and welcoming. It doesn't matter if you're in shape and athletic, or looking to drop some pounds and have no idea what you're doing, he'll help you along.
3. Overall atmosphere: I started training BJJ for several reasons; losing weight, self-defense, etc. However after training here for a while I realized that the people that train here also keep me coming back. I often call our gym a "meat-head free zone." The arrogant people who just want to beat up on others get weeded out very quickly here. What you're left with are friendly, helpful people who just want to train and get better at their art. People here train hard, don't get me wrong, but you won't see people acting like they won a world championship because they tapped you out.
Cliffs: Great place to train with excellent instruction, friendly atmosphere, and involved and interested owner. I can't recommend it enough.
