Queens Library at Astoria

Nice library, but the staff was mildly unhelpful

after school it gets really loud.

Your average library! it could be better! however, the librians there could be nicer. They always seem reluctant to help. Went once and never went back!

It's true, the librarians certainly set the tone for volume levels. Normal conversations are carried out across the room. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

One of the loudest libraries I've ever been to. When the kids got out of school and came to my table, they talked without any regard to anyone's studies. I began giving them the evil eye til they caught the idea and moved to the stacks to carry out their conversation/phone calls. I was a little peeved that the librarians wouldn't do anything about the constant din, until I realized that THEY were the ones yelling to each other from across the library. Its tough to find a quiet library outside of Bryant park, but this place is a little ridiculous. Note to librarians: Shh!
