Had a hair mishap at another salon. I saw Jen and she was wonderful! She took the time to explain to me what she was going to do and was extremely patient. The end result was fabulous. Great service!

The best haircut I have had in awhile. Linda the owner is wonderful and the salon is beautiful. I am planning a return trip for hi-lites and low lites and my daughter is making an appointment today.! Thank you Linda for everything.

I've been going to Public Image just over a year. I've never had so many compliments on my hair since starting with Linda P. Not only have family, friends, colleagues complimented the style, I once left the salon and went to a local store and a stranger came up to me and said how much she liked the cut. Linda combines professionalism with a dose of friendly conversation which makes the time in the chair very enjoyable. The colorists are all very professional and go out of their way to make the time pleasant.

Having been in the business for many years, and having been to almost every salon in Northern NJ that is worth their salt, I have to say that this might be one of the best run salons in the area. Salon owners could learn a lot about how to run a successful business from these people.
There is some really outstanding work done there. I see room for improvement in just a couple areas: Some of the receptionists are a little immature and mask their snotty attitude under an aura of efficiency - but anyone over 40 would be able to recognize the facade and their clipped speach. They don't allow you dry your own hair after a color service- this I absolutely detest (most salons do like Dieci in Livingston which actually has a separate room for blowing out your own hair). There is no waiting area - no place to sit while you're waiting for your appointment - and I think this is by design so that you are forced to look at their retail - I'm not crazy about obvious ploys like this one and their constantly reminding you about the "promotion" and everyone from the receptionist to the shampooer will ask you "do you know about our promotion?" I know it's important to salon owners to sell products and I admire their tenacity but it's a little over the top. Also I've been there twice in a month and the promo hasn't changed. In the color room they have a video loop of the same combination of clips: a 'WHAT NOT TO WEAR' episode spliced in with hair stylists pushing yet another promo one after the other - with a very loud audio of that New York song - I can't think of the name - that plays over and over and over ad nauseum! This hadn’t changed either in a month (except for the addition of a Mother’s Day promo and another for beach ready hair). After being there for 3 hours I had a major headache and needed to get out! They need to take it down a notch to make it a somewhat relaxing atmosphere, not this frenetic level that they seem to think their customers want.
Other than they need to tone down their aggressive marketing a bit and change the repetitive video, and maybe add an aspect of tranquility, and allow you to blow out your own hair after a color service, it is one of the most successful salons I have seen in a long time. And everyone other than the snotty receptionist is really nice.
A word of advice about tipping: Always tip between 15% and 20% for good service. If it's under $100 I tip 20% if it's over $100 I tip 17% and always split it up between the stylist and the assistant, especially if the assistant is doing most of the labor like applying color and shampooing you.
