NOT what it used to be. You used to be able to cut your steak with a spoon. Now it's just as good if not a little. It better than outback steakhouse. Going to to to Ruth Chris from now on

Maybe, it was best restaurant before but, to me, not anymore at this point.
The restaurant served cold bread that looks like just came from refridgerator while the weather was little bit cold. My wife asked warm bread and the the waiter said just one pharase "no warm bread here". I am pretty sure the water provided is tap water. The quality of water was worse than fast food restaurant. The waiter (about 50 years old) was not kind at all but even rude and still expected tips. I would not recommend this place. This is the restaurant for tourist expecting the fame of old restaunt. There are hundreds of better restaunts for this price range in NYC. I regrect I gave tips to this rude waiter. If this service quality restaurant opens in Japan, it will be kicked out of the business within an year.

Steak was above average. Sides were very good, creamed spinach. I understand the draw to this place. However I have had much better steak (other parts of the country)

New Yorkers have no idea what good steak is. One of the things (food wise) that the Midwest excels at :)

If you're looking for a dressed up, garnished, and neatly-topped steak, shop elsewhere. However, if you're looking for what Zagat consistently ranks as one of the best (if not THE best) porterhouses in the entire country, Luger's is your place.

I actually prefer this location to the Brooklyn one because there are a lot less tourists and "bucket list-ers" visiting this location, which means you can actually get a seat relatively quickly no matter when you stop in.

For your protein, you'd be foolish to order anything but the aforementioned porterhouse. You can get a cut sized for one, two, three, or four people, and then toss a family-style side or two in the mix to even things out. I usually opt for the German potatoes, or (off the appetizer menu), the mixed green salad with sliced tomatoes and onions, and .....wait for it, wait for it.....the thick cut bacon crumbled into the salad itself...DYNAMITE!!

Service has always been impeccable at both Luger's locations. The waiters here are top notch and very attentive to their sections. Lastly, if you're insistent on using a credit card here, you can apply for a Luger's card - my father has one, but I can't afford the extra real estate in my wallet, or keeping up like a $300 a week eating habit here!
