Opera House Hotel

The Opera House located in the heart of the SoBro district brings added luxury to Third avenue and its shopping and eating establishments.

The Opera House Hotel is a favorite quick getaway without having to getaway. Located in the South Bronx it is a hidden jewel. The history of the building is that it was an actual Opera House and each room and the hallways have pictures of the history of the Opera House and neighborhood. The rooms are very spacious for a NYC hotel room and well appointed.

The first luxury boutique hotel in The Bronx is by far the best hotel in our borough. You get twice the space at half the prices for comparable luxury in Manhattan and you're a block from the subway station which takes you to Museum Mile on the Upper East Side of Manhattan within 12 minutes or stay and enjoy all The Bronx has to offer. Service is impeccable as is the decor.

This hotel is great!! 5 star hotel in the "boggie down bronx" staff is friendly rooms are nice sized with a good decor.

The actual hotel and staff are 5 stars!

BUT.... The neighborhood is a little too sketchy for my taste. It is close to the subway station (#2 train), we had a great time and the local people are very nice but we spent way too much time on the subway and you can't really walk around and enjoy the area because it's dirty and the stores aren't anything I'm interested in.

Plus the cab drivers that they call charge $50 to take you back to LaGuardia airport when it only cost us $34 to get there using the yellow cabs.

If they cleaned up the area it would be a great little find. But then again, once the area was cleaned up it will be just as expensive as all the others.
