I was working on a renovation and needed to store some office equipment and decided to rent a 5x5 unit here. The process was easy, a young guy Philipe assisted in exactly what I was looking for, he was courteous and friendly. The place is secure and well maintained. So far, I am very happy with this business.

I rented a storage unit from this facility for the past 4-6 months and I have had no issues at all. Staff was friendly and very attendant, and made sure I was very clear of all the details of the rental agreement. The facility was always clean and had push carts available if I should have ever needed one. Overall a great experience, thank you to the very professional employees at NJ Self Storage.

I recently came to this facility to rent a 10x10 storage unit. I made a reservation online about a week before my actual move in date. I got an email confirmation with all the information regarding the unit that I had reserved. I first came to finish my paper work around 9AM but they weren't open yet.. they open at 9:30AM but I, like everyone else had to be at work. So I left and decided to come back around 4PM. I did.. I was helped by some guy named Richard Seetram who looked like he was training a guy which is why they made my paper work process longer than expected. However I understood and it didn't bother me. They informed me that I had to buy a lock in order to lock my unit at the moment once they showed me the unit. Since I didn't bring a lock I had to buy one which was about $15.99.. still I didn't let that ruin my day. I began to purchase the lock. They began to escort me to my unit which was on the 3rd floor and of course the elevator wasn't working properly and was being fix at the moment. Now once I saw that the elevator wasn't working it already began to worry me.. I began to ask if that happens often.. I wouldn't want to have to take stuff in or out from my unit without being able to use the elevator. Since the reason why I am renting this unit is because of the need for more storage place which I lack at my current place. They assured me that its not often..and it was being fixed. Okay.. We walked to the 3rd floor. I saw my unit. Locked it ..walked back to the office where I began to sign my paperwork.. I decided to pay my next month rent since the first month was free...with the exception of the lock $15.99, $22 admin fee & $12 Insurance PLUS tax.. I got a paper and email receipt.. they answered my questions regarding when and how I can pay for my unit each month, policies, etc. my next and most important question was regarding actually coming to use my unit.. How do I get in ? Since I had explained to them I've never used a storage unit before Richard The General Manager.. as his name tag and business card stated. Gave me a small card on which he wrote my unit number, my gate code, daily gate hours, office hours and the business phone number. I asked him how I should input the code and if I should ever have any problems?.. he stated "no". Great I left and a few days later I decided to come to drop off a few small items at my unit because I had rented a moving truck to bring the rest of my items being stored the next morning which was Easter Sunday (I knew the office would be closed because of the holiday but I was assured that it would be no problem accessing my unit as long as it was during the gate hours).. I began to input my gate code and it displayed "access denied"...I tried a few more times and nothing. Then I decided to park to check my receipt incase It was written wrong but there was nothing. Unfortunately this was after office hours.. of course. And they had a sign stating that the following day they will be closed for the holiday. I tried calling to see if I could get in contact with a manager or someone in customer service so maybe they can give me another or my right code and nothing. I left a voicemail and no call or response back. You can imagine my disappointment when I have a unit that is completely payed for and No access to it the day before I have a moving truck to bring all my things. I will definitely try calling on Monday to try to get someone to help me.. hopefully someone will actually answer the phone..since their office hours aren't very convenient I am not able to go in person unless I take off from work.. I deal with customers all the time and this is certainly not a way to built a relationship with future or pending customers, even if they decide to fix this issue I already wasted my money on a moving truck and a unit that I was NEVER able to even use. I will be asking for a refund and take my business somewhere else, where I can get decent customer service.
