I agree. I used this gym because the two managers are sweet but after having other staff be so rude, it was hard to justify paying more for less. If you swim and live nearby ok but nothing else is remotely competitive. The equipment is substandard. They don't have enough free weight plates and so you're competing for equipment and space constantly. My results suffered as well. It is difficult to properly workout there. Many of the treadmills need recalibrating and the treads can stutter- dangerous when you're trying to run over 7 miles/hr. It is a de spiriting place. No energy. It is the worst I have ever seen. I won't go back.

The cost is not competitive for the area. It is double and triple the cost but they do have a pool. You can't get a phone signal in most areas of the gym. No wifi for members. The average salary in the area is more than 100K. Communication may be important for many of the members but it is of no apparent concern for the gym. Between 16:00 and 21:45 it is so crowded with eager yet inexperienced people that anyone serious about fitness would be precluded to even enter during these times. Opening at 5:30 is good and there are a dedicated group who workout then. The equipment is not thoughtful. It requires some thinking and ingenuity to get a proper workout on the different body parts. When things break, they stay broke for weeks. There are treadmills that haven't worked in 4 months. They constantly clean their towels and many of the members don't mind leaving them any where they like. So the overall experience is poor. Not worth it even if it were free. I have tried every gym brand in the New York area and this is the worst!

Very very expensive, there is a better one available within half a mile radius. 4* on the free shampoo and the shower gel. 3* on the facilities, availability of gym equipments, yoga/zumba roms, swimming pool. 1* on everything else.

Staff is nice, but..
- Weight room needs more equipment and space
- too much space devoted to personal training
- cardio equipment is old and often not in good working order

Newport Swim & Fitness center keeps charging even after you cancel your services so i would really suggest to avoid this scammer and find some other gym. Hope you dont go thru the nightmare i have been thru.
