Listen to every review people!!!.. What they are saying is true they keep changing the policies and scamming people with it. Had to pay 3 different prices of membership for my family one with guest and others without it. At the end it became unfair prices with same membership. DONT GO TO NYSC AT ALL.

Signed up late summer 2015 used a personal trainer (at extra cost) and was very happy there. In December (2015) found out I had a hernia that required surgery on Jan 4 that would have about 8 weeks recovery time before I got back to gym. Brought in papers from doctor etc and was assured my account would be "on hold"...I was fully billed on the date of my surgery for January another $16.00 charge in late January and was Just billed in total for February and I'm still in an abdominal binder!!

Just called the gym to have this resolved and was told there is still a charge for an "on hold" membership asked to speak to a manager and "she couldn't come to the phone". It is physically a decent gym but the Titanic was a decent ship with idiots at the helm. Steer clear as there are other better run facilities in town.

Oh my gosh!!! I thought I was the only member feeling the pain. Same problem my guest and I were offered all the amenities, equally, only to find out 6 months (or so) later pysch! These are the new rules.

Me: I don't understand I signed a contract that said...
Gymholes: No you signed an agreement
Me: ??? HUH!

Anyway I let it go as I don't bring guest and like to work out alone I just know I would have been embarrassed to my bones if I had beguiled someone to come with me only to tell them sorry....

The second problem came when on a whim I decided to take a class, same thing, you have to register, you need a pass, oh come one hour before class, oh come 2 minutes before class...a mass of confusion.

And lastly the shower room/locker room...at 5am there should not be dried urine on the toilet seat....this club has gone to pots (sugar.honey.iced.tea.) and needs a wake up call...glad I am not the only member who's thinking wth?

Honest to goodness I'm thinking of going back to Planet Fitness, where my guest are allowed everyday...they don't have to leave their ID at the desk....The Forum...only hated that place because of parking....or waiting for the new Retro to open uptown at least there will be parking hoping its 24hrs as I love a.m. workouts.

BTW those were just a few of the problems. :( -5 stars

I first joined NYSC Bayonne when they had an offer going on. I was given guest priveleges in my contract that allowed me to bring any guest any time I went to the gym. The guest was allowed to use the machines/free weights, pool, studio and even attend the group classes. I immediately agreed to sign up with the intention of my boyfriend and I attending some yoga classes and working out together. At first everything was great, we did yoga every Sunday and worked out. Then they passed a new rule that members had to sign up online before attending a group class and guests could only attend on a per availability basis. I wasn't too upset cuz I understand paying members should have priority over guests. So we stopped yoga. Then the gym started getting into the habit of holding classes in the studio that weren't on the schedule so we would only find out when we got there and they would tell us it was occupied. Very much an inconvenience, not too happy about that since we used it often but I let it go. I also put up with the dirty and sweaty mats on the second floor that looked like they hadn't been wiped in days. Cleanliness overall is not the greatest at this place just to point out, but in this case I'm just going to refer specifically to the mats. I always see cleaning staff around yet the mats are always disgusting. Ok, I let that go too. What finally did it for me was just the other days I was told of the new policy that members could now only bring one different guest every 6 months. Seriously??? Meaning I could only bring my bf once every 6 months with me? Clearly this is their tactic to try and get more people to sign up, by jeopardizing the satisfaction of their current members. I would have to attend the gym alone with no guidance considering the fact that I don't even know enough people that would be willing to go to a gym with me once every 6 months. My bf doesn't need a membership because he works out at his job's gym so he was definitely not going to sign up. So the very next day I cancelled my membership with the manager. I find it very unfair that they would change such a big aspect of a paying customer's policy after the agreed upon terms. They could've grandfathered in the people that already had the gym membership with the intial guest priveleges. Instead, little by little, in less than a year they took away the perks on why I joined the gym in the first place. A gym I would highly NOT recommend.

Dont know what happened, started off great but started to degrade quickly, i signed up mainly because of the guest privledge that i was paying extra for and now im being told i cant bring in guest any more because the new policy or whatever. Even the staff has started to change and has gotten worse. Machines always seems to be broken. I hate this change because i was really enjoying myself and was even bringing my father with me for better health but now i can't, so i will be canceling my membership along with many members i know, who feel the same way.
