attended both piano concertos w/Trifonov. His playing was extraordinary in both. The orchestra in the 2nd. piano concerto was fabulous. In the 3rd. the NY Phil. sounded like a different orch. especially the horns,,,a bit into the first movement the french horn(?) plays the motif..sounded like this was a horn concerto...was so intrusive throughout the movement. Could not believe this was the NY Phil that eve. Not an enjoyable concert except for the remarkable Trifonov.
