Great fun things to do here. There are some cool optical illusions downstairs.

one of the top places to take your kids in NYC. It's worth the drive from anywhere in the city. Especially for children 5 to 10 years old. Always check the special demonstrations and films before you go

A popular destination in this section of Queens, and while many of the exhibits here are geared towards children, too many are overly simplistic, out of date, or even broken. One of the meteorites on display, for example, is in a magnified case and all you can see are the spider webs surrounding it.

A big area is currently devoted to a limited access maker/design exhibit that I hear is staying around for a while. Nice to see that many exhibits turned over in the last two years. Not many field trips (less crowded after lunch I was told) so the staff was more able to show how the exhibits worked.

Lovely place to hang out with family. Parking is expensive @ $10,and it is cash only. SO make sure you go with cash. Craft sections fills up quickly, and wait--time is often not worth it. Overall, decent atmosphere for stimulating kids curiosity.
