It was the best experience I have ever had at DMV. The staff were very friendly, especially the gentlemen at the 2nd counter. I was there to transfer my licence from a different state to NJ. It took them only 10-15 mins to do the whole process. They printed out my licence and gave it to me right there. I was very surprised. Thank you for the great service!

TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HAD AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE HERE PLEASE WRITE LETTERS OF COMPLAINT TO THE DMV COMMISSION! Don't let these people go another day employed!
The manager DaSilva and the nasty clerk with the scarf on her head (religion) need to be fired asap! Unprofessional! I normally go to the dmv in Hackensack in Bergen County where the staff is professional and knows how to treat its customers. But I wanted to go closer to home. Bad idea as always. I was in line behind a gentlemen he was done at the window. I heard a clerk say next. Side note in NYC where I'm from they have the numbers above the windows that blink so you know where to go; here they say next and you have no idea who's saying next. So I hear a woman say next so assumed it was the girl who just finished with the man I was in back of. I approach her desk she says "did I call you? Were you in line?" nastily. I was in line I said. Or maybe I just walk into places up to windows. I said I heard a female voice say next and here I am. I'm no voice expert to tell if it was her voice or not smh. I put my folder down and my wallet in the space allowed. She says you don't have to throw stuff. I told her you have no say in how I handle my belongings and I have the right to be agitated when you came out of your mouth with a rude tone. She said "I'm not helping you". I told her "you are". Form there I told her to get the manager who was an extension of her, unprofessional, incompetent and a poor excuse of a Manager. He immediately comes over defensive and keeps telling me to stop yelling. I was not yelling. I told him I'm speaking so that you can hear me. He tried to get me to take my things back and have a seat. I told him I do not think so and she is going to finish my paperwork. She finished. When I left I asked for his name and I told him I will be writing a complaint. He said "go ahead it will just come right to me anyway". We'll see because I am contacting the governors office along with the Dmv higher management. They need to be closed. It's always empty there anyway.

My work visa was pending extension and my license was expiring soon. I went to this DMV located @ Jersey City for my License renewal.

The first time I visited, a kind young lady verified all my documents at the verification window and mentioned that I had to bring an original letter from the HR of my company stating that my visa was pending extension. She quickly looked at other documents and said that if I bring the original letter, I should be able to get the license renewed and I went back home happy.

For my next visit, I had all the documents (including original letter from HR). I went to the verification window and a guy with glasses, salt & pepper hair, had unclean long 1 inch nails and sacred thread/bands near his wrist. Even-though I had all the documents, he tried to come up with lot of excuses to prevent me from being able to renew my license.

Q. Why I-94 was not matching the one DMV had on record?
A. When I go online to https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html, I can only obtain my latest I-94 and I had that along with me. I also showed him my expired petition and the visa extension receipts.

Q. Why is the expiry date on my license more than the 3 months buffer the DMV usually gives?
A. I am not sure about that as it was not my decision.

Q. "Looks like you had extended your license when you were on work visa with some other company...".
A. That is not possible as I have the start date of employment on the original letter from HR that I have with me.

The questions kept on coming... Since I was prepared, I argued and gave answers to all of his questions.

Finally without even looking at my face, he just calculated the months (temporary - since my visa was pending extension), clipped all the required documents and sent me forward to the next counter.

The 3 star I am giving is for the young lady's courteousness. And I give this guy a BIG "0" star for his service even-though he finally accepted my documents. I did not appreciate his attitude of trying hard to make up some weird excuse to drive me away from the DMV. He should have been polite and discussed with me in a professional manner if he had any concerns regarding my documents.

- Very Good #55019
I went to get the DL permit. It was crowded and line was very long in outside. A officer was guiding the people inside and maintaining the crowd inside. Once inside he guided me to go to a counter when I went directly to next line. In first counter they gave me the form, which I filled and stood in the line again. In second counter they verified the document and took my I-94 but didn't consider my country license but in next counter she rejected the I94 thanks to my friend who had earlier visited and told me to take whatever is listed in 6 point ID, I was able to give her other document and she considered my country license, paid her the fee. After that I moved to another counter for photo and she was very polite and took multiple photos until I was satisfied with the photo. She also helped me in answering my doubts regarding next steps. Overall experience was good except in the counter where they verified the document.
