Passed my nclex- pn back in june and im still waiting on my license to come in. Its ridiculous because my clasd mate just tuck hers and hers came directly 3 weeks later its been 2 months so far for me. Everytime i call its some excuse on why its not ready or call back in 7 to 10 business days. Or their computers are down. At the same time you trying to see what the issue is your caller is laughing and joking and talking to other ppl while your on the phone. Its so frustrating its nit even funny.

The fact the it takes more that 12 weeks to receive your number to take the nursing boards it totally absurd. My daughter applied in April 2016. It is now July 28th and she is still waiting. We are beyond annoyed!

Absolute joke. Had to drive two hours to get my paperwork processed after waiting for two months. I still had to wait the next day for my authorization number after being told it would only take an hour. These people are a joke. No one knows what they're doing. I am completely disgusted by their unprofessionalism.

7-11-2016.
The board was very helpful to me on my initial visit, as I had the wrong paper work filled out and they stayed behind to help me and also notarized my papers as I'm from out of state. As of today I have my New Jersey nursing license! I read some of the reviews and I did not receive any such treatment on either of my visits! If it weren't for them I would not have my License as I had everything done wrong! So thank you to the staff from the bottom of my heart for helping me, its greatly appreciated!!!

The Board of Nursing had a staff of 50, 15 years ago with 6 full-time nurses. Today there is one full-time nurse and about 27 staff even thought the number of people monitored by the BON has dramatically increased. The Board shortage is not because the Board costs the state too much - the revenue from license fees and fines are far in excess of the money spent on Board operations. The issue is both Democrat and Republican governors have taken money that were to be used by the Board and covered budget shortfalls. Last year it was over $12 million this year $8 million (I think I actually am grossly underestimating). The systems are not user friendly which creates additional hardship for staff and those applying for licenses or renewals.

If ALL the documents are sent at one time filled out completely with the required attachments then licenses take 6-8 weeks. If documents are sent separately or incomplete or no check attached it takes much longer because they go to the end of the line until all documents are in. If someone calls the helpline they do not get the BON but an outside group which doesn't have access to the systems and status data. with the severe shortage of staff it is not possible for a Board staff person to address all calls or visits especially repeat visits where documents requested are not provided. No documents or documents that are incomplete will not be moved forward no matter how many visits or calls. If you want change, see that BON money is used to hire more staff to do the work. The staff does amazing work with the resources they have. Could they do better with some things and should some changes be made - absolutely, but a failure to provide the necessary resources is NOT the staff's problem.
