National Car Rental

I am an emerald club member and love National. Just about every rental experience is the same from one place to the next and this consistency is nice. I always know that I am going to be treated professionally and respectfully. They have the best choices of automobiles on the market.

After having used other rental car companies to save a couple of bucks, I recently returned to National during a business trip to NYC. Having forgotten that I was an Emerald club member, the desk representative promptly directed me to the express lane, where I selected my own car (why doesn't everybody do that? - it's one of my favorite things about National) and within minutes I was on my way. Their process is the cleanest and quickest both in and out, and their prices are very competitive. Will somebody please hit me in the head with a brick the next time I think of renting anywhere else?

I have been part of the Emerald Executive level since last year and I had some trepidation when my company changed corporate accounts and signed on with National. The relationship has been nothing short of outstanding. Every time I fly into EWR I rent with National and my recent experience with the staff always validates these feelings. Their professionalism is noteworthy from assisting with the car to helping with directions and accessing a EZ pass. As usual, a seamless process and received the usual noteworthy care I've grown accustomed to ...

Every once in awhile I go with another company because of price, but I am becoming a loyal National customer. Not only do I like picking my own car, but staff are always eager to help and the reservation changes and cancelations over the phone have been hassle-free. Sometimes I miss flights and choose to drive or add a day or a few hours to a business trip and making changes is simple, straight forward and affordable. I never feel like I am being gouged financially because my plans change. I travel 100-120 days a year and National is by far the rental company that is easiest to do business with!

I rent a lot of cars for work travel and normally go with Hertz. On this particular leasure trip I decided to give National a try and even joined their emerald club because I liked that you could pick any car you like in you rental class.

Anyway, after a series of flight delays which extended my family's trip by 4 hours my young kids were so tired and ready for bed so we wanted to get to our destination as soon as possible. We picked the car we liked, we installed the car seat we had reserved and all was good until we got to the gate on our way out of the parking lot. Then the attendant informed us that we couldn't have the car because there was a recall on it. Bummer! So he had another car sent to the gate (not one we liked, but hey it was late and we just wanted to get the kids to bed). However, we could not get the car seat safely installed on the other car because of the shape of the back seat. So we asked the attendant to get us another car. By this time my kids were tired, cold and hungry! Finally the next car came ... It was a little Ford Escape piece of crap that I would never pick out of a line up, but at least we could get the car seat installed and get out of there. I think we spend about 45 minutes at National when we could have been out of there in 15 had they not put out cars with recalls on their selection line up! Thanks National for making a bad day even worse!
