My mother is on hospice and Nate's is the "exclusive" Pharmacy for the hospice. Medications were "promised" for 6:00 p.m., including extremely necessary pain killers. 6:00 p.m. came and went, and so did 7:00. When I called the hospice's emergency number I was told that the Nate's promised delivery in 15 minutes, i.e., 7:15, and that Nate's would call me to let me know where the driver was. 7:15 came and went and so did 7:30 and 7:45. And, still m y mother was in great pain, as her doctor took her off of the previously prescribed pain killers, but no Nate's. At 7:50 the driver called and told me he would arrive with the meds by 8:30. I told him that my other was in great pain and needed the delivery ASAP. The driver told me that he would veer away from his route. But he arrived at 8:23. Big woop! Seven minutes early.
Why is it that when one is a hostage to a particular pharmacy because of the hospice's policy that Nate's be used. Nate's does not have the common courtesy not to lie about the delivery time, or the common courtesy to call and apprise one of what is going on; particularly when the patient is in great pain.
Is Nate's just discourteous or do simply not care about their patients, particularly my mother an 80+ woman in a lot of pain.
