I drove from Michigan to Lodi, New Jersey to purchase a hard to find vehicle in excellent condition.. a 2008 Hummer H2 SUT. All the Hummer SUT's in my area where not well cared for and obviously abused. I found what I was was looking for, if what I see in person adds up to the pictures of course. With this in mind I called Michael $ Sons Auto Sales right away about the truck. I speak with Ray... the sales manager about the condition of the truck. He explains how amazing this truck is and how meticulous the previous owner was with it. He tells me everything I wanted to hear ... so this kind of concerns me off the get go since I know how most used car dealerships work. I decided to chance the purchase based on Rays very convincing sales tactics and to make a little road trip with my wife. I had a 2010 Ford-F150 Lariat SuperCrew I was driving there as a trade in once Ray and I came to an agreement on a trade in price over the phone. At the time I had high end aftermarket rims and tires Ray wanted with my truck but didn't want to pay anything extra for them. I told them I have a set of brand new rims and tires I bought to run in the winter that are very nice black out hostile 20" rims with almost new winter tires. Ray eventually agrees to this being he knows I am taking such a low price on my truck anyhow and will make out VERY well. Before I make the trip, I send Ray a text saying "I hope the Hummer is as clean as my truck" .. I am exceptionally OCD with my vehicles as I know if I ever decide to sell it, I will get top dollar back. In this case I was trading it in so I accepted my losses, as they where big, but I was trading if for the vehicle I have always wanted! We made our way to New Jersey straight through from Michigan and we arrived slightly early. We where driving by Michael & Sons Auto to get familiar with the area and happen to see the Hummer. We decided to stop and get a sneak peak! My first thoughts as we approached was so far so good .. then we get right next to it. WTF! This thing was dirty inside and out with scratched up paint all around, corroded chrome, spray painted nerf bars to black them out ... I was furious! I didn't even want to meet this Ray at the moment as I needed to calm down and understand it was my choice to trust a used car salesmen and make that drive. I called Ray later to call off the deal. He was begging me to give them a chance to clean the truck up and then come see it. I had to sleep on it as I was so tired from the 14hr straight drive. The next day I decided to go see the truck after they cleaned it up .. when I get to the shop it was running and ready for me to take it for a test drive. It looked clean for sure but the corroded chrome, scratches and spray paint didn't go away. I brought the truck to a local mechanic and got the green light. I had planned to customize the truck and the issues I had with it cosmetically would be gone after I do what I had in mind anyhow. I decided to make the deal with Ray. We had all the numbers worked out and I had a check from my bank for the exact difference for the Hummer with my truck trade before I left Michigan. We signed the papers and where off. Once I got back to Michigan I had a few things yet to take care of at my bank .. I went in and talked with the loan dpt. to tie up some ends. As we where finishing it was brought to my attention that Ray had called my bank to get the payoff on my truck .. I thought well now why would he do that since all the numbers where figured before I left. Come to find out he paid the lean off on my truck versus the amount we agreed on! WTF The current payoff was lesser then the amount we agreed on, so in the end I was lose even more money from this deal not including all my gas to bring them a vehicle to make money on!! I called Ray and explained .. he said he would send me a check for the difference .. its been 3+ months now and no returned money and now no reply from him! I should have known better but for sure do now!!
