Clean and Great service. The food itself is different form your average Chinese food, but overall pretty good but can be expensive.

We decided on eating here because I felt that the second dining option, Fletcher's the BBQ space next door, was a bit too expensive (Dinosaur BBQ was the first). The wait at Dinosaur BBQ was over an hour! So based on wait time and cost a decision was made to try Michael & Ping's. Overall, it was a good choice. Scanning the menu of the usual Chinese options, I decided I needed to try something different. I started with scallion pancakes with marinated chicken breast and the passionfruit lemongrass iced tea. Both were really good! My GF kept praising the pancakes (initially she was hesitant about trying them). I have to say, it being my first time trying them, I have to agree. I'm sure they're done differently elsewhere, but if you come here, I recommend ordering them. As the waitress forewarned, the iced tea is a bit on the sweet side. Despite the sweetness, we both like it. There were a couple items I wanted to try from the Asian Sandwich section, but I went with Kung Po Chicken, very standard fare. She had the Beef Chow Fun, again a standard found on every Chinese restaurant menu. Nothing ground breaking here. I'm partial to P.F. Chang's (critics a plenty, but for me P.F. Chang's gets it right every time), but the food here is above average. Had I been blessed to have a critics food account I would have tried some of the Thai dishes, but I didn't so I didn't. She liked the Chow Fun, which she informed me she had never tried that dish before. The dish brought back memories of Clinton Hill! I ordered the Chicken Chow Fun regularly from Kum Kau, which makes the best I've had. It's always good when someone orders a meal and they're satisfied. We were satisfied given that initially we wanted Dinosaur BBQ. Michael & Pings motto is "think outside the box" when comes to there food. Besides some dishes done a different way, I didn't feel it was "outside the box." Also, Michael & Pings proclaim to be Brooklyn's first and only "green restaurant." I can neither confirm or deny that claim. With dinner finished, I wanted dessert, but was informed that out of the five or so desserts on the menu only two were available and none of those were appealing. I could hear ge lato, ge lato being whispered. I entrusted my smartphone to do some heavy lifting. I remembered this article from New York Magazine about the newest places to get ice cream/gelato. I found the spot I was looking for and off into the night we went. I would recommend this place, but I've had better Chinese. Michael & Pings happens to be located in a lively little stretch of 3rd avenue. Close to the Smith/9th Street G stop. You can take in some live entertainment at Bell House around the corner on 7th street, try Fletcher's for expensive BBQ next door and two doors down, the much talked about pie place Four and Twenty Blackbirds.

Not a fan. Ordered three things, and didn't like any of them.
Steamed Pork Dumplings - Undercooked. The edges had the consistency of pasta that you cook for a minute or two, and then take out. Ick.
House Special Lo Mein - I really ilke Lo Mein, and I was excited to try theirs. Fell really short. Mealey-tasting noodles, lacking overall flavor.
Roast Pork In Garlic Sauce - Watery sauce, and the pork was really small and shreddy. Would have worked, if it tasted good, but it fell flat. The brown rice also tasted dry.
I wanted to like this place. The concept is great, but the food is crappy, and it was overpriced for being on Third Avenue.
