I went to Metropolitan Medical for a surgical procedure under general anesthesia to complete a failed medical abortion I went to American Women's Services for. This place was amazing. Everyone was nice, they took their time and had a REAL operating room and doctors I felt safe with. Please go here. I had NO pain, no side effects and I felt like me again afterwards. I also recommend surgical over medical any day. I had to spend twice the money and I wish I went to Metropolitan in the first place. There were protesters outside which was uncomfortable but there is a police officer right inside the building so you can feel assured nothing will get out of hand.

Here is my experience at American Women's Services, which was beyond horrifying:

Went in for a surgical procedure under twilight on a Monday afternoon. The staff were like robots, so emotionless, very short with me and hardly answered questions in the depth I was looking for. I was 4 weeks along so at first they didn't think I would be able to have the surgical procedure but they said verbatim "the doctor will do you real quick." WTF does that mean? Now I understand he obviously had better things to do despite me scheduling my apt. a week ago because they only gave me 20 minutes for my sedative to kick in and it didn't. After 10 minutes they asked if I felt any different and I said no, I told them repeatedly I needed more time or more medicine, but they all talked about how they wanted to go to Chipotle since I was the last procedure (I arrived at 12:30 and left at 3). I was in a dispatch room with another girl who just had her procedure done and she was totally out of it. I was relieved that I would be feeling the same way since I am so afraid of pain. However they sat me right next to her and she kept slumping over and grabbing at me. There were so many other chairs so I'm not sure why they placed me next to her since it was super uncomfortable. After 20 mins They started the surgery anyway despite my heart rate being in the mid 100s and the sedative still not taking effect, and I had to have them stop the surgery because the medicine wasn't working. They were so mad and impatient with me and had no empathy. They said I could take the pill version and take it home with me but that I had a minute to decide because the doctor was leaving and I was the last appointment - It was only 3:00pm! They wound't give me a refund because they administered the sedative despite the procedure not being performed. Worst of all, the sedative did take effect an hour after I left the office. I am so angry that they didn't give me the time I needed, especially considering oral medications don't take effect immediately like they though it should. I have escalated this matter and hopefully something gets resolved but never again would I EVER recommend this place.

Update* I went back to get the pills for a medical abortion a week later. I made them waive my copay since they were unaccommodating the first time. The medical abortion failed and I learned they used a method of mexotrexate and misoprostol which is NOT FDA approved in the United States! And the doctor, Eric K Yahav was involved in an illegal abortion ring I learned when I Googled him. DO NOT GO HERE.

Girls should know who to trust, my second time in an abortion clinic, first time for myself. Staff was very friendly and answered all my questions with a smile.. Very clean place, doctors seemed so experienced and I was calm throughout the procedure. A couple of months later I can only thank everyone for their support, which is far more important than the procedure which seems to be pretty simple.
