Mavis Discount Tire

I am a certified Mechanic who works on my own car so I very seldom go to a shop unless I am not equiped to service my car at home and don't have access to my current employment at the time the repair is needed. One day I noticed that I had a small leak from my front passenger side tire and decided to stop by the Mavis to have a patch installed. I don't have equipment at my residence to dismount the tire nor balance them. To say the least, the service writer had very poor hygene and had extreme difficulty helping the few clientele in the waiting area at the time. The repair was poorly done, the leak was sealed however the tire was left overinflated and the lugs were overtorqued causing me to have to replace 2 of them later in the week when I had to remove the tire to replace a cam sensor. I'm lucky I caught this mistake before it caused warpage to the rotor. I am almost willing to say Mavis definately wants costomers to come back for sabatoged repairs. I can probably get the most inexperienced texhnician to know that you shouldn't tighten steel lugs in an aluminum sleeves more than 90 foot pounds. I can definately say that I feel very strongly not to recomend this place to the worst of my enemies. Only reason I haven't returned to complain and have the problem fixed is that I don't want this facility to touch my vehicle ever again. This was by far the simplest of simple repairs and the only thing I can say about the "profecionals" at Mavis in Roselle Park NJ is find an experienced technician and learn something.

They cross-threaded a lug nut during a tire change and left it that way. They never said a word about it and allowed the car to leave with it stuck halfway on.

In my opinion the work done is good but the prices seemed a bit inflated. I've been here a few times and chose them because their tire services and price were ok. As for other mechanical services, I'm not sure that I will be using them in the future. Their costs are way above average for average work.

Manager was very helpful and I received a much appreciated follow up call to discuss my concerns. This prompted me to return for another visit upon which I was pleased with the service.

Went there for an oil and wiper blade change. They overfilled the oil and messed up my wipers-which is almost impossible to do (and yet it happened).... Will never visit this place again. I feel like they started employing some random people to just cut the costs.

This is my only destination for major repairs.

I had an engine problem which was resolved in the most professional (and cost effective) matter possible.

I was incredibly impressed with the quality and reliability of the crew of STS Roselle.
