Mama Shers Caribbean Cuisine

I would like to clear the air in terms of reviews. Mama Shers is THE BEST Caribbean place in northern jersey.

I am a food connoisseur who has tried the best and worse of Jamaican cuisine. Is this as good as the food you will get in Jamaica? Maybe not exactly, but very damn close. I would compare Mama Shers quality very close to that of the Caribbean Flatbush, Brooklyn. It's not better than Peppas, but it's better than Fishermans Cove. And that says a lot, and I mean a lot.

One of the best things of Mama Shers is the cleanliness, not only of the place- but the food. I have never eaten at Mama Shers and had upset stomach or anything close to that. Another important part is they do not drench their food in oil. Too many times Caribean restaurants around North NJ have piles of oil under the food- not here.

Try Mama Shers if you want authentic flavor in quick serve atmosphere.

Mama Shers has the quality of munchies, but better- and with better jerk chicken.

Never have a bad experience here. Wish I lived closer I'd go all the time!

Authentic Jamaican cuisine with a pleasant service.

I ordered 2 large dinners, one oxtail and the other jerk chicken. Both totaled $27 and while they were good in flavor I was disappointed to see that I paid for oxtail bones. I understand oxtails is an expensive meat but you should get what you pay for. The order looked like it could've been a small given the size of the oxtails I received. I had a total of 9 bones 4 with meat and a substantial amount of rice and cabbage! I shared the jerk chicken w my friend because of course even though $27 was spent I was hungry... after speaking to the owner about it i commended her on the flavor and told her about the bones and that I've read reviews after the fact and to not serve that to customers. She said she personally served my dinner and can't put all large pieces in the dinner regardless of the fact that I paid for a large dinner cause she would be left with small pieces. Didn't offer discount nothing! I'm not going back and to be honest I only went because my usual spot We Be Jerkin that will serve you well with oxtails is closed on Tuesdays. Please take this review into mind when ordering oxtail dinner there if meat is what your looking for go to We Be Jerkin otherwise don't waste your money on food you won't get.

I bought two plates of oxtail I small and a large. The large plate looked like a small I paid $13 for this and the there was not enough gravy in the plate. My wife plate had a little of the burnt part of the rice, that usually from the bottom of the pot it's not the best but it's ok I've taste better.
