A recent walk through Chinatown left me standing in front of the largest Buddhist Temple in New York City. I've always seen this from afar but as I stood there I realized that they encouraged visitors of all walks of life. So I entered and was blown away by the 16-foot Buddha poised at the altar. The space eminated a feeling of peace and quiet that is a stark contrast to the streets of this bustling Asian neighborhood.

The history and background on the construction of the temple are posted on the walls in English for visitors interested in learning more about this fascinating place.

This is located at the end of Chinatown. OK place to stop in if you're interested in Buddhist culture. Not really that much to look at.
