Top-notch BBQ with all the fixins, quick service, casual honky-tonk atmosphere. Ribs are a must, but so is the brisket. Save room for dessert, their peanut butter pie is special.

I came here with a friend for one of the many organized "Yelp Builds Back" events running back in November and December of 2012. Mable's donated 20% of Wednesday night's proceeds to relief/rebuilding in Red Hook, and we managed to fill our stomachs up as well!
Mable's has traditional table seating and bar seating. For either, you place your order and are given a laminated "State" (in place of a number...ours was Iowa) propped at your table. Once the food is ready, a server whisks it over to your group. My friend and I sat at the bar and 'Kale' (yes, like the dark leafy green as he noted) was our server. We went with the sampler platter which came with all three meats (brisket, ribs, and pulled pork), and choice of three sides. We opted for the mac & cheese, burracho beans, and potato salad.
While all three meats were delicious, the brisket was by far the best. It was juicy and soft, to the point that when I lifted a strip off the tray, it literally tore right in half from the sheer weight of its own awesomeness! The brisket had a nice spicy char on the outside and didn't need a lick of extra BBQ sauce - it was perfect as is. Ribs were caramelized and a bit sweet, but very good! The pulled pork was also good and juicy, but wish we could have had a pinch more.
The atmosphere really takes you out west, from the music selection to the decorations, even to the communal trough outside of the individual stall bathrooms. I'll surely return next time I'm cruising through Williamsburg / Bedford Ave in search of some sicknasty BBQ!

Not a huge fan of Mable's. Went for a friends birthday on a Thursday night over the summer and the place was fairly empty for most of the night.
Summer + BBQ = Empty does not compute in my head.
The food was...OK, I guess. Got the pulled pork with a side of corn off the cob and mac and cheese.
The pork was fine. Nothing special, ate every bit of it, but wasn't so good I wanted more, even though I was still hungry. I'd get into more detail, but honestly it just didn't stand out.
The corn was also fine. It was definitely fresh and had some butter. Being off the cob was interesting and appreciated.
I did not like the mac and cheese. For me, the pasta was overcooked and the sauce was more creamy than cheesy. That may be some folks ideal dish of mac and cheese, but it's certainly not mine. A bit of crunch to add texture may have made it more palatable.
The bar was a bright spot. They had some sort of cherry limeade on special that was quite good. After I got sick of being made fun of for drinking something that wasn't manly enough for my friends there was a decent selection of whiskey.
Maybe it was an off night for Mable's. Or maybe it was one for me. Either way I don't see myself returning.
