I'm not surprised this facility is closed permanently. Almighty God was listening & experiencing management's choices. Explained to me by HR, was to sign a form of resignation, in order to receive an award for a stipend scholarship. If I had, this would have extinguished my receiving this award. With deceit and pretense, HR tried to prevent this Puerto Rican descendant, from attaining a stipend scholarship. No Wonder why it closed permanently. If this facility wanted to do this to one of God's creation, imagine their attitude towards patient care.

No wait at all. I always bring my kids here and have had a great experience every time. It's worth the drive from queens.

- Very Good #16432
Came in to the ER around 830pm with a nasty dog bite. My upper lip pretty much hanging due to severe bites, one on each end of my mouth. This was the first ER that seemed like a ghost town (as far as patients). I was the only one in the E.R. WHAT A GEM! Most ERs are over crowded, under staffed which produce very long waits. I came in, gave my information, saw someone that took my vitals and immediately led to a treatment room where I was treated by a couple nurses and a great plastic surgeon that happened to be in the ER at the time. He stitched me up and within an hour and a half, i was back home. Now THAT is how an ER should be run. I've heard rumors that it might be closing down but i hope that's not true because this facility is needed in this community.

This hospital was extremely attentive of my needs after I had a Mayday seizure (I think that's what they call May 1st, right? Mayday?). They took immediate CTs, EEGs, and MRIs, and explained the basic results to me. They let me go on the third, though I should have stayed at least another day as they suggested. They made an appointment for me for a neurologist (or is it neurosurgeon? I mean, I'm not getting any surgery anytime soon, but....)
Anyway, to have made a short story long, I sincerely recommend L.I.C.H. *snicker*

Sorry, gamers' joke...

I went to the ER for the Long Island College Hospital, located on 339 Hicks Street, Brooklyn, Ny, 11201; on Tuesday December 11th. I arrived there at around 11am and was there to around 5pm and ended up leaving without anything, no medication for my pain or anything, because i was waiting so long just to see a Doctor about stomach pain i was having that i just was tired and left. When i first came into the hospital i signed some entry papers and after about 15 minutes my name was called for me to get my blood pressure tested and my temperature checked by the general assistants up front. After that i was told to go back to the general waiting area up front and wait for my name to be called. My name was called after 10 minutes, then i was removed from the front and put in the secondary ER room where Doctors suppose to see you. I was not seen until around 4pm, and i entered the hospital at around 11am. Then... they had me waiting on a urine test which took ALL DAY. I gave urine to be tested at 11am and still was waiting on that and when i asked about it and said "i'm tired, and my stomach hurts still" they said that i may have to wait more which would be (all the way into the evening). For something which is simple... just a urine test! They took ALL DAY! ALL DAY! Ridiculous. From my observation while sitting around, there appears to be no good management of Patients and TIME there. Someone that came in before me, told me she was waiting since 11am as well and she had pain in her side from a previous surgery she had done there and she hasn't been seen either, she left at 4pm, without ever being seen. I also found out that the paperwork from the front desk was never sent to the back, and so the doctors in the back room (the secondary ER room) where i was placed to sit and wait to see a doctor, they wasn't aware of my location in the building, even though (nurse assistants) upfront put me there. They have lack of communication between the people up front and the people in the back and the computer systems are not being updated as to what is being done in the facility which is slowing down the whole service process as well. Somebody need to (better manage that location) because from my (all day) observation, they are very disorganized in there. VERY. And, in no way am i exaggerating. I sat there 6 to 7 hours and saw it with my eyes. Chairs are being placed beside pathways where beds with patients on it are pushed by and some of the patients have shoes on, so dirty shoes are in your face or a half naked person or someone coughing or something is being pushed by you right at face level, which don't make no sense either because the disorganized environment and the way they sit people just would cater to more people getting ill with that set-up. Also, in my opinion, there should be two separate sets of doctors - one set that works with critical patients and one set that works with the not-so-critical patients, like me. I understand that critical patients laying in beds have to be prioritized and seen first, but... others are there for noticeable aches and pains that (could be serious), and should be seen in suitable timing as well. One lady told me she had a surgical incision mark (an actual small hole in her side) leading into the body, that was hurting badly and she waited from 11am until 4pm and never was seen by a doctor and left. And... both her and me likely needed some pain medication etcetera and wasn't able to get it in a suitable time frame and left with nothing. That's exactly why there should be two sets of doctors. One set for the minor to critical "walk-ins" and one set for the "critical and over-night stay" patients.
